Acknowledgements
While I have learned from many dog trainers over the years, a few stand out. Thanks to Glen Johnson, who early in the 80s taught me about inducive training. And also to Bill Dotson, who introduced us to Schutzhund and Search & Rescue.
Thanks Tracey Louper for letting me help teach classes, and being my friend and sounding board for new dog training ideas.
Special thanks to friend and mentor Michael Ellis. Michael is a gifted dog trainer and teacher, and almost everything I use and teach these days comes from Michael.
And thanks to Ivan Balabanov, who started our club, Big Sky Schutzhund Club, on the way to becoming thinking dog trainers.

Upper Snake River Valley DTC Trial
The K9FUN store will be at the USRVDTC trial this weekend in Rigby Idaho. Corbie will be running in Excellent Standard & Jumpers, and Lexi will try her paw in Novice Jumpers. I’m working feverishly on braided leashes of all kinds and colours, I hope you like them! See you there, -sam

Chuckit! Players
One of my absolute favourite dog toys is the Chuckit! Tennis Trainer. We’ve been out of stock for a bit, but now have them back in. These motivational toys are great for obedience rewards and dogs love them! Tennis trainers are fun and extremely durable — they stand up to some tuff-tugging German shepherds and [...]

I learned to braid!
Thanks to Rocky, who took the time to teach me to braid like the buckaroos did. Although they used leather and horse hair instead of parachute cord! I now have 4- and 8-strand snap leashes and agility slip leads available in a variety of colours. They are available in both snap lead and slip lead [...]

Toy testers needed!
I’m looking for three or four good dogs to be official toy testers for the K9FUN store. These dogs should be death on toys. I mean, really destructive! I will send you a toy or two to test… in return, you will write a short critique of the toy — what you liked about it, [...]
Spindrift Disc
The dogs love the new Spindrift soft disk I bought in Billings. The small size is perfect for the shelties and makes it easy to stuff in my pocket for training. The rim is designed so that material sticks up on both sides of the disk, so no matter which side it lands on, the [...]
